Petersfield House Hotel is set back from one of the most attractive reaches of the River Bure in the area known as the Norfolk Broads. The original property was built in the twenties on a prime site as a large private residence in two acres of gardens with its own moorings on a grassy bank of the river. Today it is a secluded family run hotel whose reputation is based on traditional comfort and hospitality. Guests can be sure of receiving personal attention at all times. The bedrooms are bright and welcoming - most rooms overlook the well-kept landscaped gardens which feature an ornamental pond, a putting green and a flintstone moongate. Varied fixed-price and extensive a la carte menus are served in the restaurant where a list of over 60 wines provides an ideal accompaniment. Regular Saturday night dinner-dances are held with the hotel occupying one of the choicest positions on the Norfolk Broads. Sailing is the popular local pastime and open regattas are held in summer. Golf is within easy driving distance. Other local attractions include Norwich with its famous art gallery and "Ten Ancient Monuments" and Blickling Hall with its interesting furniture and gardens. Directions: From Norwich ring road, take A1151 to Wroxham. Cross river bridge, turn right at Hoveton on A1062 to Horning; hotel is beyond centre of village.
